Sponsor a Child

Sponsoring a child is a great way to help an individual child by ensuring that their basic needs (food, clothing and medical care) are being met and that they have the incredible opportunity to get an education!  As we all know, education is the key to a life of opportunity instead of a life trapped in grinding poverty.  An education gives these kids a chance to grow up and become the future leaders of their country!

Sponsorship is $34 per month and matches an orphaned or destitute child in Ethiopia with a family here in the United States.  The child and the sponsor family can exchange letters - and the kids absolutely treasure the letters they get from their sponsors.  Affirming words like "you are special", "I love your smile", "Good job in school" are rarely heard by these kids, and they keep the letters and store up every word in their hearts.

The staff from Children's Hopechest meets with the kids at each care-point every week - providing counseling, mentoring and Christian discipleship.  Letters are translated and delivered to the kids within about 1-2 weeks of when they were emailed.

If you are interested in sponsoring a child, please contact me at kjwistrom@yahoo.com and let me know if you prefer a boy or girl.  I will send you an email with a photo and biographical information about your sponsor child and instructions on how to register as that child's sponsor.

I travel to Ethiopia each year in November to work with the kids at "Trees of Glory" and "Kind Hearts" care-points, and build long-term relationships.  Sponsors are welcome to join me on a trip and meet their sponsor child face-to-face!  I regularly communicate with the Ethiopia staff and email updates to sponsor families every 1-2 weeks.
