Micah 5:2 But you, Bethlehem Ephrathath, though you are small among the
clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who is ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of
old, from ancient times.
Isaiah 7:14
Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child
and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel (God with us).
Isaiah 9:6-7 For to us a child is born, to us a
son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the
increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on
David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice
and righteousness from that time on forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will
accomplish this.
And so it began … in the town of Bethlehem …
Luke 2:8
...
And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby,
keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them,
and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the
angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that
will be for all people. Today in the town of David a savior has been born to
you; he is Christ (Messiah, the Annointed One) the Lord. This will be a sign to
you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a
manger.
Suddenly a great company of
the heavenly host appeared with the angel , praising God and saying, “Glory to
God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor
rests.”
From my family to you and yours - I pray you have a
blessed Christmas where you ponder the miraculous birth of Jesus and wonder anew
at the amazing gift given.
