Quenching Thirst in Ethiopia!

The big news on the Trees of Glory well fund-raiser is that we only have $1,500 more to raise!!!
Children's Hopechest has been working to secure the final competitive bids from several different drilling companies that have the equipment to drill the required 6" diameter bore hole (as required by the Ethiopian government for a long-term well) to an approximate 200 meter depth (very deep!) where the pure water aquifer is located!  Drilling permits are in hand, and they estimate that we can begin drilling within about 30 days of when the funds are wired to Ethiopia.

Our travel team of 23 volunteers from all over the USA will be in Ethiopia in November and its very likely that drilling will have started (and possibly be complete!) by the time we arrive on November 12!!  THANK YOU to each and every person that has donated, prayed and spread the word about this project - YOU have made this happen!!

And while you are at Heather's blog, read about her heart for orphaned and destitute children and how her idea for came to be - and how she is using that idea to raise funds for kids in Ethiopia!  Heather is is happy to help you with your purse party fund-raiser for Ethiopia too!!

We have 23 volunteers from all over the USA travelling to Ethiopia to work with the kids at Kind Hearts and Trees of Glory in Ethiopia.  Trip dates are Nov 11 - 21.  We have 25 spots available - only 2 spots are left!!  Email if you are interested in joining the team!!

90 new children will be enrolling at the care-points by September and each child will need a sponsor family.  When children first enroll at the care-points, many are suffering from malnutrition or sickness.  Within a few months of attending the care-point (which provides nutritious food, clean water, medical care, clothing, education and Christian discipleship through your sponsorship of $34 per month) the change in these kids is nothing short of miraculous.  I have been working with these 2 care-points and these kids since January 2010 and I have seen with my own eyes the transformation in these kids!!!

Please click HERE to read my post from last year, WHAT DOES HOPE LOOK LIKE?, after returning from Ethiopia.  You can SEE the change in these kids after just a few months - THIS is what hope looks like!!

This is Chala when he first enrolled at Trees of Glory.

I took this photo as he was receiving a package from his sponsor family!

If you are inerested in being matched with a sponsor child, please email me at and I will add you to my waiting list, and then contact you as soon as we have profiles for each child.  Our travel team will be with these kids in November (and each November after that) and we can deliver a care-package, photos and letters (and lots of hugs!) from you.
